Yes, it’s true! The LifeSpring men are ready, willing, and able, and the Men’s Ministry is once again active…ready to move forward and follow God’s leading as we seek His will for us.

There were several men at our first organizational meeting. Pastor Steve sent a last minute email to everyone on the list who had expressed interest in being involved, and ten men showed up.

Pastor Steve shared his vision for the group. There were actually five parts to the vision. The first four are general, and all ministries at LifeSpring share these in common. The last is specific to Men’s Ministry.

  1. The Gospel Presentation – All ministries have as their first priority that of sharing Jesus Christ with new people
  2. Priority Goals – Each ministry needs to decide what they are going to be about.
  3. Fellowship – Each ministry should coordinate and plan events that will allow people to build personal relationships with others.
  4. Worship – Jesus should be at the center of everything we do at LifeSpring, inside and outside the sanctuary.
  5. Specific men’s issues – We have a responsibility to care for every man regardless of the age. Even the Royal Rangers should be under the watchful eye of the men’s ministry. This program should be supported by the men of LifeSpring.

Four of the men present volunteered to meet again in the near future to come up with a possible leadership team for the men’s ministry.

Tonight’s group talked about some of the activities that have been done in the past at LifeSpring by previous men’s ministry groups, and even some that are now taking place. We discussed briefly some ideas that we might begin doing very soon, and some ideas for the future.

On September 30, 2008 all the men of LifeSpring are invited to attend our first All Men’s Meeting at the church. The time will be 7:00 p.m. If you are a man who attends this church, you are invited!

We decided that the first group activity will be to attend the Men’s Retreat at Pinecrest, October 17-19. More details will be forthcoming.

Oh, and this blog is part of the new men’s ministry, too! Please feel free to comment by clicking on “Comments” below any entry. The more involvement here, the better!

Onward!
